Win “Trifari” Christmas Treasures!

Sparkling light and color and the true meaning of “treasure” are running themes in Christmas on Mimosa Lane. And what better symbol of that than choosing jewelry to be the visual/physical link between the sweet little girl in my novel, Polly, and the mother she’s just lost? As soon as I knew that’s what I wanted, my love for vintage Trifari kicked in!

I’ve created a Pinterest board with pics of jewelry that inspired the beautiful pins charming my COML characters (and my agent and editor and hopefully readers ;o). I’ll keep adding more pins as I get the chance over the holidays.

I hope they (and their part of the story) win your heart over the way they did mine–not just because they’re sparkly and bright and cheerful. But because of the deeper emotional story they tell in my novel. And how (I hope) they really do become a visual touchstone for triumphing over loss and learning to live and love again.

And to celebrate this Christmas on Mimosa Lane theme, I’ve selected a special pin for a reader giveaway–running now through November 30th.

Who wants to win a Rudolf to wear this holiday?

trifari rudolph

Isn’t he a beauty?

He’s a vintage piece of signed Trifari that I’m aching to keep for myself, but I’ll be sending him to one of you. See how much I love you guys???

And to keep his winner company, one other commenter will receive a $5 Amazon Gift Certificate. So, two chances to win!

To enter, simply tell us in the comments about your favorite Christmas treasures. Or about your own jewelry obsession. Or share a link to a Trifari pin that you like best. Leave us a piece of yourself (anything except for a sad little “I wanna win” ;o).

If all goes well and we get a good response, I have my eye on a Trifari Christmas tree like the one I write about in Christmas on Mimosa Lane–I’ll give it away in December…

My mom received a lot of jewelry when she got married and she recently dug it out and let me pick all the pieces I wanted. I picked out some cute rings and bracelets.

    • I got to pick some favorites from my Grand’s collection a few years back, when my mother was settling her estate. They’re in special boxes now, and I adore wearing them!

  7. Linda Martin- says:

My favorite Christmas treasure is a handmade gift my Mother made me when she was out of work. It was a glass bowl with rose petals and mini lights so when you plug it in you get the aroma of fresh roses. It means so much because she had just lost a job she had for 28 years and even tho she had no money she made me my treasure. I light it every year and it reminds me of how much she loves me.

  8. Deb says:

My favorite Christmas treasure was given to me by my Mother several years ago. It is an ostrich egg ornament with a mini winter scene inside. She made it for me the year my daughter was born 32 years ago. She had gotten the ostrich eggs from a friend and they got together and blew them out. Then her friends husband did the cutouts on the side.
My mother passed away in 2002, but her many gifts to me go on.

    • I HEART all of these family stories. EXACTLY why I chose jewelry for the connection between my little Polly and and the mommy she’s just lost.

The memories are hard for her at first, but she treasures each tiny pin by the end of COML. Watching her learn how to remember and believe in love and family again was an amazing experience for me as a writer. This story moved me more than I can say.

  9. Kendra says:

My favorite piece of jewelry is a bracelet that my father gave to my mother their last year of marriage. I have never seen another bracelet like it. I won’t post a picture because I don’t want anyone to spoil my thoughts of it being so unique. :)

  10. Diane Pollock says:

    I obsess over black pearls!

  11. Hi,
I do love jewelry. I inherited the title of “Queen of Flash and Trash” from my mom.
I have a jewelry and Christmas treasure story also.
I loved this ruby ring that my mother received from her father on her 16th birthday. She would let me borrow it on special occasions, but I had to be careful with it. Almost 40 years later, one Christmas morning after all the presents were unwrapped, my mother said she thought there was one more. I found a small box hidden in the tree with the ring inside. I had coveted that ring for so long that now I am almost afraid to wear it, but I do!

The year my son was born, someone gave me a silver Christmas tree ornament that said “My first Christmas”. Every year I buy a new silver ornament to add to the collection. This year’s will make number 34. The problem is I now have three children and they all want my little collection. I hate to split it up and I am still adding to it.

    • love, Love, LOVE collections like this. I have the Hallmark brass/gold collection my Grandmother bought for me for over a decade when I was little. They’re sparkling on my tree every year still!

  13. Suzy says:

    Nice pin, love seasonal jewlery…

  14. Theresa n says:

My favorite Christmas treasures are a collection of homemade ornaments made by family and friends.

    • My mother saved all our baby ornaments. I have them now and love putting them (and my memories) on the tree each year. And I’ve saved all my son’s. He has a tree for his room every year he wants one, and a box of ornaments all his own.

One of our favorite traditions (and another holiday image that made its way into COML). Yep. Nothing’s sacred in a writer’s life, LOL!

  15. Vickie Couturier says:

my favorite piece of Jewerly was a bracelet my grandfather brought back from the war for his first wife, she died before he got home an she was pregnant,so he packed it back to give his daughter some day,,he married an had 5 sons an 1 daughter ,my mom an she passed it down to me,its dated 1913 on the back,I wore it at my wedding an my daughter wore it at hers, its very special an I shall keep it passed dwown inthe family

  16. JOYE says:

My jewelry pieces consist mostly of the real things…not so much into costume jewelry. I love diamonds…doesn’t every girl?

  17. JackieW says:

I like jewelry very much…I have rings the color of most all my dress outfits and change them to fit the colors I’m wearing each day. I also have a vast collection of Native American jewelry…some my mother had from the 30’s which looks as good as most any piece of Indian turquoise jewelry of today.

  18. Love the book cover! Wow Anna, you’re a writing machine. I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared to read Christmas stories yet. :-) The pin if pretty, I am a costume jewelry hoarder, have so much I forget I own some pieces, so sometimes it’s like Christmas when I find one I’d forgotten about! hee hee

  19. Sunnymay says:

Sweet, a reindeer pin with a gem for the red nose. Reminds me of Mrs. Claus reading to my kids at holiday time and then eating the sugar cookies hand-decorated by staff at a jewelry store.

  20. Robin in NC says:

What an adorable pin!!!! My favorite Christmas treasures are my sons’ handmade tree ornaments!! He’s a dad himself now, but I still love to unwrap each one of these treasures every Christmas!

    • I have every ornament from preschool and gradeshool that my guy made. All the hand prints and foot prints and things made from sticks and yarn. They make it onto the family tree every year (when my teen hasn’t already snagged them for the one he gets all to himself).

No matter how sparkly or vintage or precious the other ornaments might get now that we can have an “adult” tree, my son’s ornaments are always my favorites…

  21. JeanMP says:

That pin is so cute! My favorite Christmas treasures are ornaments that my mother made many years ago, she has been gone a long time now, so every year I bring them out and put them on the tree, I have many happy memories of her.

  22. Mary M. says:

It seems that the older I get the more I like jewelry. I have been collecting vintage rhinestone jewelry the last few years and I enjoy wearing it.

  23. Gayle Oreluk says:

My favorite treasure is “the Santa” ornament. It was my grandmother’s from Germany. She gave it to my mom and she gave it to me. It is a glass Santa that was hand painted. It’s over 100 years old. Very fragile. It is special and I think of all the relatives who gazed upon it during the holidays and who have also cherished it.

  24. Cindi says:

Hello, I lost my only brother and mother, 4 months apart in the
year, 2000. My sister and I are still blessed to have our 94 year
old dad, who is doing wonderfully! We split up Mom and Dad’s Christmas
decorations and they are very much my treasures. Many of the decorations are quite old, but in good shape. When I decorate for the
holidays, I see these and think of my mom…
    Many thanks, Cindi

  25. Debbie Welchert says:

I have a pair of diamond hoop earrings that are very special to me. My husband and daughter bought them for me one christmas. I also still have a cat pin with moving eyes that I had when I was a kid.

  26. Karen K. says:

How apropos since my husband is Rudy!

  27. Mel K. says:

Wow. Trifari has been around a long time. The deer is very sweet. My mom just turned 80 and I’d love to give her this pin for Christmas. It’s her favorite holiday and she’s always wearing little pins like sparkly trees, Santas, etc. I love sparkly things too. I have a huge jewelry collection. I like jewelry made of stones, fossels, bones, and coins. I swear I think I have every silver ring ever made. I am looking for a silver ring with a face with an open mouth. It’s hard to describe. It’s like something you would see in Dante’s Inferno. I would also like to find a trilobite ring that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I’ve searched on the Internet but they are so expensive. If anyone can help…I’m all ears. Pierced ears that is. :-)

    • I hope you find a ring that is perfect!

And if you don’t win Rudolf, come back in December. I’m definitely going to put a beautiful Trifari Christmas Tree out here as the next giveaway goody ;o)

  28. Skye says:

I love the kitty Trifari pin! It’s so adorable.

I used to have a wonderful, sparkly Christmas tree pin that my mom gave me, but either it’s been very thoroughly misplaced in storage (but I thought it was in my old jewelry box) or I’ve lost it altogether. I haven’t seen another one like it, although the tree that you pinned is very nice.

I’ve already picked up Christmas on Mimosa Lane; it’s on my iPhone. I bought it because it looked sweet and because I’d already been impressed by your writing in Her Forgotten Betrayal (which scared me so much I had to read the end before the rest of it at one point just to make sure everything would be okay!). I’m looking forward to reading COML. I don’t think I’ll have to read the end before I get to it. :)

    • Um, well, you see… I tend to give my charaters a pretty rough road to travel, even in my sweet contemporary romances. So, it’s an emotional ride still, but a lovely book. I’m absolutely over the moon with what Montlake is allowing me to do with this series.

I really hope you love it, Skye.

Thanks for picking it up so far away from the holiday ;o) And thanks for your kind words about Her Forgotten Betrayal. It was a blast to write, too, in a totally different, spookier way!

  29. Rita Wray says:

I love decorating the tree because opening the boxes of decorations is so much fun. My favorites are the little wooden toys I hang on the tree. I buy a few new ones each year to add to the collection.

  30. anne says:

The trifari pin is lovely and unique. Simple but elegant jewelry is perfect for me since I am petite. Thanks for this lovely post.

  31. KimberleyC says:

Thanks so much for this giveaway…Congrats on the new release, it has been added to my tbr pile (as your books always are !)

I really don’t wear alot of jewelry. My favorite thing about the holidays is unpacking and setting up my Nativity scenes. I have about 15 of ‘em and I set them out all around the house. This makes Christmas real and special to me.

  32. Pat Cochran says:

One of my Christmas treasures hangs on our front door
every holiday season. My dear mother-in-law gave us
a Santa’s Face arrangement to display when we moved
into our home 43 years ago. It had been in use in the
family home for some 35 years. She wanted us to have
a “touch” of family to carry through into our home.
It will pass on to one of our children some day in the
future. She also gave us a Nativity Scene which we dis-
play every year. She loved the holidays, especially
since her birthday was December 20, in the midst of all
    the seasonal excitement!

  33. ellie says:

Congratulations on the release. The pin is beautiful and special. I enjoy jewelry that has been chosen with care and love. Earrings that are bright, bracelets that reflect the season and rings that are meaningful.

  34. Sandra M says:

A very pretty pin. My favorite thing about Christmas is that I make my husband decorate the outside of the house with me We put up lots of lights and large inflatables with moving parts. We started this tradition when my son was young, and we continue to do it today. Just standing in the street looking at all the lights and decorations at night, brings me joy!

  35. librarypat says:

My Christmas treasure is the first nativity set we bought after getting married. It’s A Small World is a favorite at Disney. We found a nativity set whose figures reminded me of the children depicted in that Disney ride. It just happens to be a Hummel. I remember being reluctant at the time to spend $27 on the set. We have several other nativity sets, but it is still my favorite.

  36. Auriette says:

When I first got married (20 years ago), my mom announced that she was going to start giving me a Santa ornament or decoration every year. I said, uh-uh – I want reindeer! She usually gives me more than one each year, so I have accumulated quite a collection – from the pooping reindeer candy dispensers to some very nice metal sculptures. The pin would fit right in, and it’s something I can show off anywhere.

My favorite jewelry is very old-school. I wasn’t really sure what style of jewelry I liked best until I watched the cable series “The Tudors.” That’s my style now. Big, flashy, with a “vintage” look.

  37. Deb says:

I remember being about 7 years old and really wanting a “grown-up” piece of jewelry. Mom would let me wear hers, but only in her bedroom when she was making her bed and such, afraid I’d lose it. That Christmas in my stocking was a sterling silver signet ring the flat part was in the shape of a heart with three stars on each side…I wore it until it almost split and it’s still in my jewelry box…I’m waiting for my Granddaughter to be old enough for it to fit her…so I can pass it alone…still one of my most precious memories of Christmas…

  38. mary branham says:

What an adorable pin. I would love to wear it on my coat for the holiday season.
I love your books and can’t wait to read the new series.

I have quite a few pins and love to wear them on my coats.

  39. Cheryl English says:

I met my husband in 1999. It was around Thankgiving. The first jewelry I received from him was from one of the finest jewelers in town. It was a crystal snowflake necklace and matching earrings. Every year this jeweler creates a different snowflake necklace and matching earrings around Thanksgiving. So it is now tradition that around Thansgiving my husband buys the necklace and earrings for me. They are so beautiful and can be worn anytime of the year. I just love old school traditions. It’s something to look forward to every year.

  41. Vicki Wurgler says:

I have a pearl necklace that was my Grandmothers that I love plus a cardboard Santa Claus she would hang on the wall – he has movable arms and legs-I think of her with love when I put it up for the Christmas season

  42. Rosemary K. says:

I collect holiday jewelry. For years when I would do my gift shopping, I would always treat myself to one pin. When I look at them I remember what happened that year. They bring happy memories.

  43. Audra Holtwick says:

I love earrings –I have cats ,pumpkins, wreaths , and hearts — and i treasure the jewelry that my mom left me when she passed

  44. Felicia Plastini says:

I like jewelry so much I learned how to make some! I love rings, bracelets and brooches! My greatest ‘treasure’ is something I inherited, my grandmothers rosary beads. :)

  45. Jennifer McCambridge says:

I lovr the ordaments that my grandmother hand made and the onrs I have given my son every year. The whole seson is something I enjoy bit the music and the lights will get me every time. I have only a few treasured jewelry pices and they all tend to be something handed down through the family.

  46. Mary Preston says:

My favorite Christmas treasures are Christmas tree ornaments made by my children when they were in Kindie. The ornaments are a little faded & sad now, but they still take pride of place on the tree.

  47. Jane Squires says:

My Christmas tree ornaments are all treasures. Every ornament has a story to tell. Some from kids I’ve taught at church. Some I made in my 20s and I’m in 60s now. Some from childhood. Others gifts from friends. Pictures of my kids first kids and now I have grandkids. Ones my kids made in school when young.

  48. BethR says:

I love my angel tree ornaments I have a whole series that started 25 years ago. I have some very old ornaments from my great grandmother one of them has the music to silent night on it.

  49. LizM says:

I have a small, battered Santa Claus my grandfather carved and painted for me more years ago than I care to admit to. The painting is chipped, and somehow Santa lost part of his nose, but there is nothing I treasure more. My Christmas decorating is not complete until Santa stands center stage on the mantel.

  50. pc says:

I have a christmas angel my mom made 45 years ago…it has its eyes closed, its haloed head is gold-painted, and it holds a tiny harp against its pink sequined gown. It goes on the top of my christmas tree every year.
