Tulips in January

You have no idea the grief I’ve taken for not posting shoes since August. And I had no idea how much footwear was other people’s addiction, just like mine. More than the dream posts. More than the teenager and writing posts. More than the monthly contests (which I need to post winners for this weekend ;o). People WANT MORE SHOES!

So, in the spirit of there supposedly being more snow coming to north Georgia weekend (and the white Christmas we had for the first time in a century), I give you Tullips in January!

Prada Tullips

Some of our darlings are works of art. We can’t help but love them a little bit more, can we? Even if it means jealousy and discord in the closet, some of our shoe boxes (You keep all your shoes in their boxes, too, right? To protect them from dust and creasing and so forth. Especially suede ones like these. I know you do. Don’t make me come to your house and do an intervention!)…

Where was I? Oh, yeah. Some of our boxes hold gems that from the moment we first bring them home, we know we’ll cherish above all the rest.

My Prada pink suede strappy sandals are my babies. And I find myself this early January morning, now that I’ve been wearing boots for over a month, longing for a spring day where I can pull them and a cotton dress from my closet and indulge. Just look at the ankle strap and sculpted heel. And the toe. How did they make shoes that look like flowers? Like spring. Like every pink fantasy I’ve ever had.

I’ll have to post pics of the box one day, too, when I’m not getting email threats of bodily harm if I don’t get back to posting the shoes ASAP.The shoe box itself has wood nymphs printed all over it, in pink and gold leaf. It’s a work of art, too. Makes me smile every time I see it tucked away on its shelf.

Which is what you’d expect when you plunk down the cash demanded  for something from Prada. Even at 70% off, I winced. But I’m a collector. A Junkie. A rescue home for off-season, high-end shoes that need good homes before they find themselves sent to the orphanage (outlet store) where their premium price tags, even deeply discounted, would likely mean they’d wait forever for someone to pluck them out of obscurity.

I’m an activist, really. A preservationist. A champion of beautiful things that deserve to be loved and taken care of forever. And that’s how long I’ll have my chance to pull my pink tulips from their glorious box in January, and dream of taking them out for their first walk in April.

Weekly Shoes are My Heroine  posts from now on, my friends.I’m diving into my winter wardrobe for pics of the great boots and booties that are currently protecting my piddies from the lower-than-normal GA temps. Can’t wait to show them off, too (and not just because they’re tripping me every time I head into my closet now, because I dared to spotlight the princess shoes first!).

Anna, you are always the best dressed at GRW. Now I know why. :)

Smooches, Ciara ;o) I never got to be a surpurlative in high school. “Best Dressed” sounds like a lot of fun, especially amongst the beautiful ladies at GRW…

  2. I have the perfect nail polish to go with those shoes! Comes with sparkles too!

LOL, Jenni. If you’re a size 8 1/2, I’ll bring them to a conference one day and let you borrow. And you’re about the only person I’d let touch my baby Pradas!
