Dark Legacy Scavenger Hunt:Q3

Loot at the bottom of the post for the third and final question for this month’s hunt–we’ll be in full swing starting next week, counting down to Dark Legacy’s August 25th release! July winners to be announced early next week.

So leave one final commentthen check back to catch the winners and all the fun announcements I’ve been saving for next month ;o) It will be a month-long release party, including tons of guest blogs, review links, special excerpts and reading opportunities, and a grand prize (you guessed it, because I couldn’t resist) COACH PURSE ;o)

Here are links to the previous questions in July’s hunt, in case you haven’t left comments there:

Question 1

Question 2

Here’s the rundown of the July prizes you don’t want to miss:

Leave an answer to each “Q” post for more chances to win. At the end of the month, I’ll draw winners:

  • One commenter will win a Dark Legacy ARC!
  • Two  commenters will win a Dark Legacy pendant, which displays a portion of the cover art and is finished in a sterling silver bale that’s large enough for you to use the pendant with nearly any chain.
  • One commenter will win a Dream Flutters leather and sterling-silver embellished necklace, a Dark Legacy pendant, and one of my signature butterfly pendants–all designed by Marci Fried as part of the Dream Flutters line of jewelry she crated, inspired by Dark Legacy.

And here’s the last July Scavenger Hunt question!

Sarah Temple…

Maddie’s twin sister keeps popping up in Dark Legacy’s early chapters, even though Maddie hasn’t seen her twin for ten years. In fact, Sarah’s there in several of the excerpts I’ve posted to the blog. If you’ve pay close enough attention, you might have noticed her shadow over her sister’s actions, her dreams–even what Maddie says to the people around her, while Maddie fears she’s losing her mind. But you’re never quite sure what’s going on, I hope ;o) Are you hearing echoes of Sarah, or is Maddie really becoming unhinged? Or both… Bwahahahaha…

In the comments section, share some of the places in the blog’s Dark Legacy excerpts where you’ve caught Sarah’s influence over Maddie’s unravelling world. Dark Legacy’s excerpts are at the top of my Excerpt Category. Click that link to scroll back through everything I’ve posted.

Good luck everyone–Can’t wait to choose prize winners on Monday!

  1. Walt Mussell says:

Well, the obvious one is that you learn in the Chapter 10 excerpt that she can sense injuries and sensed her sister’s and then it references Maddie’s sister again in Chapter 6. However, the fact that she shivers when entering the hospital has a ghostlike quality to it.

Looking forward to your book, Anna. I’m certain it will be wonderful.

  2. Patricia Barraclough says:

The most telling is in the Meet Jarred section. She is being haunted by Sarah’s nightmares when she is awake. She has been eating foods she hates and doesn’t remember ordering it. She would say things and be rude like Sarah and very unlike herself. She would not remember doing it afterwards. Lastly and most importantly, when she feels a very strong connection between herself and Jarred, she tries to leave. When she gets to the door, she has the vision of her father’s car exploding and sees a raven. She sees herself squeezing the throat of the raven. When she turns around, Jarred is struggling to breath.

  3. Patricia Barraclough says:

Hit the wrong button. She could hear Sarah’s voice saying “Die. He has to die.” She has to fight to get herself back.

  4. Fannie Wiggins says:

In the excerpt from Ch. 10 when Jarred realizes that Maddie feels what is happening to her patients as well as to Sarah. Then Maddie is ordering and eating foods she doesn’t like and doesn’t remember doing it, saying rude things that Sarah would say. Realizing that Sarah could become the same as other people and make them her. Seeing the raven and squeezing its neck and finding Jarred fighting to breath.
Wow, this is wonderful stuff. Hurry up Aug 25th.

Well Chapter 10 definitely puts it into words but the hints had been leading up to this. I never thought she was just crazy or coming unhinged but that there was something more going on. It seems that Jarred is the one that figures things out even before Maddie – she isn’t totally aware that she is acting like her sister. Maybe she didn’t want to know :) After seeing the raven and squeezing Jarred’s neck she won’t be able to avoid realizing that somethin more is happening to her and her twin.

  6. Minna says:

    Ooh, this is definitely spooky.

  7. susan leech says:

Chapter 10 has many signs of influence and it gives you chills to realize hoe the feelings can be sent to one to another. I am very much into this now and on the edge of my seat. I had a great aunt who could sense things and it used to scare me when I was young that such things could happen in real life..now I love to read boks with such deals in them too. susan L.

  8. RobynL says:

“No!” Maddie lifted a fist to her pounding head. Pressed her other hand to her churning stomach. It was too much. All of it, too much. His thoughts. Her patient’s. Sarah’s…

this first got me realizing that Sarah had an influence over Maddie.
Before this I thought Maddie very strange and messed up.

Maddie says things that she normally wouldn’t say but is influenced by Sarah. She takes the loaded gun to shoot herself but Jarred intervenes; she does this and many things without realizing what she is doing.
