Writers… Don’t forget to fly…

articles2One more Friday Article. Come back next week for more.

Key message: Writers are always more than what they deliver!

What Keeps You Writing?
Don’t Forget to Fly…

Nothing could be more simple than this one basic truth. We’re writers. When we write, we thrive. When we don’t, a piece of our soul dies.

Forget the publishing business for a moment. Forget the endless questions and worries. Chalk up the struggles, the lost opportunities, as simple facts of life. Everyday hazards of the job.

Difficult? Yes, a writer’s career can be a difficult journey. Don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise. But so what? What does a little adversity matter, really, when you stop to consider the amazing gift you hold within your heart?

You’re a writer. Say it with me. I AM A WRITER. (more…)

In the Between Times…

Friday, May 29th, 2009

articlesArticles Friday–This one for authors and anyone working hard on their dreams…. I originally wrote it as a newly published author for my local RWA chapter newsletter. It’s been copied and linked to from all over the Internet. Inspires me again, every time I read it.

The key message:  keep dreaming and don’t lose your faith, while you work hard to make your dream come true!

What Keeps You Going
In the Between Times?

In between clouds and the sea, float currents of sun-kissed air, charged with the promise of a building storm. In between a child’s dreams and the future she’s yet to conquer, lies the moment when she discovers that her reality is hers alone to create. And in between the heart and mind of a writer, it’s not uncommon to find her soul, excited that her latest creation has sprouted wings and flown into the world beyond, yet floundering for new direction and the next sweet inspiration. It’s in the between times that we glimpse our true heart most clearly. (more…)

Publishing’s Past, Present and Future…

Embrace Your Dreamworld…

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

If Maddie Temple doesn’t take her dreams back in Dark Legacy, her world, her mother’s, her twin’s and possibly everyone else’s is going to end!

Yeah, I’ve kinda taken the warm and fuzzy idea of dreams to, shall we say, the next level. And I’m getting a lot of questions about why. So at least once a week–let’s talk dreams!

dreaming5

Why create a contemporary paranormal world where dreams control everyday life and can be manipulated to do the dreamer’s bidding? Well, because they do–for reals–and most of us rarely remember what our minds do the six or eight hours we sleep each night (okay writers, fess up, it’s more like two to four hours a night, but the same rule applies). Especially if we’re dreaming something uncomfortable or foreign to our everyday world. Or, as is the case for many of us, we’re not sure if we want to be that in touch with where our imagination goes when we give up our waking control. (more…)

Welcome Everyone!!! & May Contest Reminder

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Welcome to my beautiful new blog. Heaps and heaps of thanks to Mara Lubell at Works Progress Designs, who’s redone my logo and site and blog. Look around and check things out and scoot over to the website–there’s lots of cool stuff to do over. But the blog is where things will stay hopping, so keep coming back…

We have fun out here. And sometimes we talk all serious and all. It’s all good. Take a peak at the categories to the right and you’ll get an idea of what you might see more of.

Oh, and I’ll be adding an “Articles” category–where I’ll be moving all the articles and things from the old blog, posting one a week until I’m through, and then adding new material. You can also catch me on Facebook. There’s a link, if you dare ;o) I’m doing good, for now, not letting playing out there keep me from working. But it’s hard. Such a friendly place. So many opportunities for procrastinating and hooking up with great people. (more…)

Be proud, whatever you believe, that this kind of dedication exists in our youth…
